Crowds to line Melton's streets for annual St George's Day Parade
Crowds are expected to line the streets of Melton Mowbray again for this year’s annual St George’s Day Parade.
The event takes place on the afternoon of Sunday April 26 and will again involve Scouts and Guides from across the town and borough.

The party will gather at the car park at the top end of Thorpe End at 12.45pm before setting off along Sherrard Street at 1pm.
Participants will make their way to the town’s St Mary’s Church for the traditional service commemorating St George, the patron saint of England, which starts at 1.30pm.
The parade will then reform at around 2.30pm ready to march through the Market Place to the top of High Street.
Syston Scout and Guide Band will accompany the procession, which will be led this year by members of the 1st Waltham Scout Group.
Also taking part are the 36th Melton, 4th Melton, district explorers, 1st Old Dalby and 1st Long Clawson.
All sections will be parading, including Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, as well adult volunteers for each of the groups.
Motorists are advised that rolling road closures will be in place during the St George’s Parade event.
Leicestershire County Council Highways has agreed to a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order for the closures which will take place between 12.45pm and 1.30pm and then again between 2.40pm and 2.50pm.
The rolling road closures will apply – for their entire lengths – on Thorpe End, Sherrard Street, Market Place, Nottingham Street, Leicester Street and Church Street.
