Investment will tee up Rutland hotel and golf venue for more success

The investment follows two of the most successful years at the venue, in Wood Lane, Greetham, since its opening 25 years ago.

It will mean a refurbishment to the existing shell, six new target greens, decoration and new carpet, bay dividers and modernisation of the tuition rooms.

Other investments include the installation of tees irrigation, refurbishment of bunkers and tee complexes plus new bridges and pathways.

Sean Clarke, general manager, said the introduction of a members only course at weekends had been popular and coupled with the quality of the courses the venue had enjoyed growth in membership numbers of 11 per cent compared with two years earlier.

He said members have enjoyed two years with no membership fee increases. Full membership remains at £708 a year – made possible by the success of the overall business.

Neil Curtis, PGA golf professional who joined Greetham Valley two years ago, said: “The refurbishment of our range was the obvious next step.

“We are enjoying considerable success with junior golf development and the introduction of more families to the club.”

Greetham Valley has just appointed a new head chef, Martin Carter, who said: “We have exciting plans to develop the quality and diversity of our culinary concepts.”

The club invites all golfers to enjoy the new driving range for free on April 23 and April 24.

Mr Curtis will also be on hand to provide complimentary advice and tips to help improve your game.

Challenges will be set for juniors and adults with prizes awarded at the end of each day.

He said: “We will be setting challenges for focused range practice and our launch weekend invites everyone to come and enjoy what we are sure will be the best golf range facility in Rutland and beyond.”

Club officials say the quality of the golf courses have gained a superb reputation, benefitting from a solid green-keeping team.

The Lakes and The Valley Courses offer contrasting layouts, with differing and varied challenges and, coupled with the Par 3 course, the facilities available are suitable for all levels of golfer.

Mr Clarke added: “With increases in golf membership and visitor numbers, along with exciting plans for food concepts, coupled with room occupancy and conference growth, Greetham Valley is well set to continue to soar ahead.”
