Businesses and homeowners are still experiencing phone and broadband problems after underground cabling was damaged by flooding after a water main burst in Melton.

Among the problems the Melton Times was made aware of this week was that some town businesses were receiving incoming phone calls for other neighbouring businesses.

A spokesman for Openreach, the BT group business which loosk after the network that keeps UK homes and businesses connected said: “Our engineers have finished the time-consuming job of replacing 130 metres of underground cable that was damaged by flooding.

“Most homes and businesses affected should now have their normal service back again. However, a small number of faults are still being worked on.

“If anyone in the area still has issues with their telephone service, such as crossed lines, they should contact their provider (the company they pay their bill to) as quickly as possible.”
