Dozens of Melton places where you can grab a half-price meal

Dozens of restaurants, cafes and pubs across the Melton borough will be offering half-price meals to customers from Monday as part of a scheme to revitalise the hospitality sector following the coronavirus lockdown.

Through the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, which runs until the end of August, businesses can offer a 50 per cent discount on meals and non-alcoholic drinks up to a maximum of £10 per person.

They can then claim back the value of the discount from the government.

Eligible establishments are those in which food is sold for immediate on-premises consumption and participating businesses must register on the scheme before offering discounted meals.

Shelagh Core, manager of Melton BID, said: “We’ve had a good take-up in the town for this scheme which is great.

“More businesses are registering each day and hopefully it will result in lots of good business for them during August.

“Any establishments which have not yet registered can do so.

“We will also be listing those taking part on the Melton Town Centre App, which is free to download.”

The discounted meals can be offered all day, every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and there is no limit to the number of times customers can use the offer during the period of the scheme, which ends on August 31.
