Will you find Wally?

THE Melton Bookshop is celebrating 25 years of much-loved children’s book series Where’s Wally? with a treasure hunt.

Julian Duxbury of the bookshop has teamed up with Where’s Wally? Publishers Walker Books and Shelagh Core, Melton town centre manager, to hold the hunt.

Ten town centre shops have signed up to be involved and will display mini Where’s Wally? Cardboard cut-outs inside their premises for participants to find from Saturday.

Once participants have found Wally (the hunt is not in a particular order) they will be presented with a card certifying their discovery which when presented at the bookshop could see them walk away with prizes.

Julian said: “If people collect five cards they will receive a free Wally poster, if they find eight they will get the poster plus entry into a prize draw.

“The idea behind the treasure hunt is to drive footfall around the town and celebrate a momentous milestone for author Martin Handford.”

The shops taking part are, Age UK in Nottingham Street, Baby Gosling in King Street, Deli Italia in Church Street, Far Fetched in King Street, Fern Mae’s Traditional SweEt Shop in Market Place, Foxy Lots off Leicester Street, Kidsbitz in Bowley Court, Melton Bookshop in Leicester Street, Melton Cheeseboard in Windsor Street and Melton Toys in King Street.

The treasure hunt will culminate in a Where’s Wally? party and prize draw on Saturday, July 28.
