Sign up to take part in charity Melton Pork Pie Pedal and support two worthwhile causes

Cyclists are encouraged to take part in the Pork Pie Pedal, a 50, 60 or 70 mile cycle through quiet countryside and around Rutland Water.

The event takes place on Saturday, July 1 and is raising money and awareness for The Medaille Trust and Hope for Justice.

Organiser Justin Morgan said: “Along with encouraging people to cycle and having an enjoyable day, the Pork Pie Pedal has been very successful at raising money for different charities over the past seven years.

“This year we’ve decided to raise the profile of modern day slavery and human trafficking and raise money for two charities that work both locally and internationally to bring this to an end.

“This is not something that only happens in far off countries; Melton was the site of the first modern day slavery case in the East Midlands.”

In 2016 the event raised over £10,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust and Target Ovarian Cancer. Cyclists are asked to commit to a minimum donation or sponsorship of £30 in recognition of the work involved in organising the event. For more information or to register visit www.porkpiepedal.co.uk
