The Pork Pie Pedal will take place on Saturday, July 2 in quiet countryside from Melton to Rutland Water, around the reservoir and back to Melton.

It is suitable for all standards of riders, from cycle club members to people who will see the ride as a big personal challenge, and as not a race.

A spokesperson for The Pork Pie Pedal team said: “Not only will you be raising money for these two great causes but you will have a great day out.

“The Pork Pie Pedal is known for its atmosphere, camaraderie, and an excellent complementary lunch.

“The extra loop was a great success last year and so we will continue to offer the three distances; the standard 50 mile route or for those with strong legs the options of 60 or 70 miles.”

In 2015 the event raised over £9,000 for Parkinson’s UK and Colitis UK. Cyclists are asked to commit to a minimum donation of sponsorship of £30 in recognition of the work involved in organising the event.
