Leicestershire’s Ishi Khan brings her hit BBC-featured show ‘Ask Granny!’ to Coalville

Following a sold-out run at Leicester Comedy Festival and a recent appearance on BBC, Leicestershire-based comedian, writer and performer Ishi Khan brings her award-shortlisted show Ask Granny! to Coalville this Friday, November 14 for two special performances at 6.30pm and 8.15pm.
A sell-out smash at Leicester Comedy Festival, Ask Granny! is a playful, laugh-out-loud improvised chat show starring NaanE — the sharp-witted, fruit-slinging, advice-giving granny you never knew you needed.
Shortlisted by the National Rural Touring Forum, Ask Granny! blends storytelling, comedy and audience participation to create an uplifting, feel-good evening that celebrates connection, community and joy.
Born in Zambia to Indian-heritage parents and now proudly based in Leicestershire, Ishi Khan has been performing across the UK since 2008. Her work often explores themes of belonging, identity and humour, told through her unique multicultural lens. She’s been recognised for her authentic storytelling and vibrant stage presence, having been featured by the BBC and shortlisted for the Funny Women’s Best Show Award.

Sharing her inspiration for the show, Ishi says: “My Granny has always brought much laughter and joy. I guess it’s what Grannies do. At a time when it’s easy to feel low or disconnected, I wanted to dissolve divisions and bring communities together.”
Fans attending the Coalville shows are in for a treat, Granny has a brand-new surprise up her sleeve.
“Oh yes! Think upcycling and swimming,” Ishi teases.
The performer says one of her favourite parts of the show is watching the impact it has on audiences.

“Some of the most rewarding moments are when I can see the transformation it’s made in people. They leave uplifted, that makes my heart squirt glitter!”
As for what she hopes audiences will take away?
“Joy, happiness, and hopefully a new friend,” she says with a smile.
With festival appearances already booked for 2026, these Coalville dates mark the final chance to see the full version of the show this autumn before it evolves further.
