The Light Between Oceans (12A) Today at 8.30pm.

The Accountant (15) “This guy risks his life cooking the books for some of the scariest people in the world,” explains US Treasury enforcer Ray King (Simmons) of his quarry, Chris Wolff (Affleck). Ostensibly mild-mannered accountant Wolff does indeed launder criminal proceeds, and also doubles as an ultra-violent assassin. In this intriguing thriller from director Gavin O’Connor (Warrior), Wolff eventually secures a legitimate client, a company where a clerk (Kendrick) discovers a multimilliondollar discrepancy. As the pair unravel the truth, their lives are increasingly imperilled. Described as ‘ an autistic Jason Bourne’, Wolff’s character is perhaps the most complex that Affleck has portrayed. Friday at 6pm, Saturday, Monday and Thursday at 8.45pm, Tuesday at 2pm and 5pm and Wednesday at 6pm.

Inferno (12A) Following The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons, this third adaptation of a mega-selling Dan Brown mystery thriller has Tom Hanks reprising his role as famous symbologist Dr Robert Langdon. This time Langdon wakes up in a Florentine hospital suffering from amnesia – and with Ron Howard back in the director’s chair, the plot quickly gathers its usual blistering pace. Along with Dr Sienna Brooks (Jones, The Theory Of Everything), Langdon must decipher hidden meanings in a reproduction of Dante’s Inferno in time to prevent a madman (Foster) from eliminating half the world’s population. Adding spice to a story that never lets up are Hanks’s A Hologram For The King co-star Sidse Babett Knudsen and Jurassic World’s Omar Sy.

Trolls (U) The creators of such family friendly fare as Shrek and Alvin And The Chipmunks have delivered an irreverent animated comedy voiced by top names such as Gwen Stefani, James Corden and Anna Kendrick. The magical world of the eponymous, ever cheerful and indeed constantly singing Trolls is threatened by the gloomy Bergens, who frankly just want to eat them up. Co-directed by Walt Dohrn and Mike Mitchell, the Trolls’ hair-raising but comic adventures as they outwit their adversaries are set to a catchy original score by Justin Timberlake, who also voices one of our heroes.

Queen Of Katwe (PG) Living in the slum of Katwe in Kampala, Uganda, is a constant struggle for 10-year-old Phiona (Madina Nalwanga) and her family. Her world changes one day when she meets Robert Katende (David Oyelowo) at a missionary program. Katende coaches soccer and teaches children to play chess. Curious, Phiona approaches and learns the game. She becomes fascinated with it and soon becomes a top player under Katende’s guidance. Over several years, her success in competitions and tournaments leads to greater competitions, stress and identity issues. Phiona must learn more than the game as she is exposed to life outside Katwe. Her education, both formally and informally, continues as she dreams of escaping a life of poverty for herself, her mother and her siblings.
