Melton's former WW1 hospital Wicklow Lodge needs your votes to receive coveted green plaque

There's still time to cast your vote for Melton's Wicklow Lodge to receive a prestigious green plaque in recognition of the role it played during the First World War.

Wicklow Lodge, on Burton Road, was a military hospital during the war, treating 1,484 sick or wounded soldiers.

It’s on a shortlist of 12 people and places currently seeking the public vote as part of Leicestershire County Council’s Green Plaque Awards scheme.

People can choose up to six of their favourites from the shortlist. The deadline for voting is Monday, June 6. The winning plaques will be unveiled later in the year.
