Thirty-fifth Kirby Bellars art exhibition proves to be a success

The 35th annual exhibition of Kirby Bellars Group of Artists has been hailed as a success by organisers raising £190 for Unique The Rare Chromosome Disorder Support Group.

Members’ paintings, in a variety of media, and covering a wide range of subjects were on show at the village hall.

One of the organisers Elaine Bedford said: “The event was felt to have been a success with a steady stream of visitors throughout the bank holiday.

“The exhibition was, as usual, split into two parts with the main exhibition, featuring 137 painting, in the village hall and a further selection, both framed and unframed, on sale in St Peter’s Church.”

The President’s Trophy was awarded to Ann Head for her panetl of paintings and the opener of the show, local artist and tutor Amanda Jackson chose a picture by Andy Shore entitled Waiting.

The winner of the vote for visitors’ favourite painting was entitled Emerald Sea, Waves, by David Wenborn.

Elaine added: “We had several enquiries for membership, and anyone interested in joining us is invited to come to Kirby Bellars Village Hall to see us at work on Monday, May 16, between 7-9 pm.”
