In 1909, at the age of 41, Florence Foster Jenkins (Streep) received an inheritance that enabled her to realise her operatic ambitions. Undeterred by her total inability to sing, she gave private recitals and embarked on a notorious musical career, managed and indulged by caddish British actor St Clair Bayfield (Grant). Stephen Frears (Philomena) fashions an amusing and often poignant biopic of a woman driven by self-deceit.

Today at 6pm.

Bastille Day (15)

When pickpocket Michael (Madden) steals a bag, he unwittingly becomes the prime suspect in a terrorist attack. He is ruthlessly pursued by CIA operative Sean Briar (Elba). They are both caught up in a political conspiracy, which turns into an entertainingly incendiary race against time.

Today at 8.30pm.
