Melton Memory Cafe is available to dementia sufferers and their carers

Dementia support workers in Melton are encouraging Alzheimer's sufferers and their carers to attend a free monthly memory cafe held in the town.

The cafe held at Melton Carnegie Museum is funded by Leicestershire County Council. It provides an opportunity to meet regularly and talk about living with dementia in an informal and social environment.

Joanna Matthews, a dementia support worker for Leicestershire Memory Support Service, said: “The cafe is open on the first Friday of each month from 10.30am to midday.

“The cafe provides opportunities for people with dementia, families and carers, to ask questions of professionals and learn from the experiences of others.

“The facility also provides information about dementia and practical tips about coping with the illness.”

The date of the next cafe is July 1. For more information call0116 231 6921.
