Enjoy beautiful flowers this weekend at Somerby Flower Festival

The church will be open daily to visitors from 10am to 4.30pm during the duration of the festival which runs from Saturday, April 30 to Monday, May 2.

Arrangements will be done by local arrangers along the theme of “Family Celebrations,” and the event aims to raise funds for church maintenance.

Sue Reeves-Jones, chair of Somerby Parochial Church Council, said: “We are desperately trying to raise money to brdige the gap in fundraising required for the replacement of the church nave roof. We have received a considerable grant from the Listed Places of Worship Roof Repair Fund, but this is only a percentage of the total cost of the project.

“Going forward we ultimately aim to provide mains water and drainage to the church which will allow us more flexibility in how the building can be more widely used for the benefit of the whole community.”

Businesses are encouraged to sponsor individual arrangements and can do so at a cost of £25, £50 or £75.

The festival also has a free cheese and wine evening on Saturday at 6-7.30pm and there will be a craft table to occupy children.

Volunteers are sought to help serve teas on Sunday and Monday afternoons.
