Another summer of Shakespeare in store for Stamford Tolethorpe Hall goers

Kickstarting the month is Alan Bennett’s stage adaptation of The Wind in the Willows. The first show starts on June 7 and runs until the end of July.

The company will also be performing two William Shakespeare plays Macbeth, which starts on Tuesday, June 14, and The Tempest from July 5.

Macbeth is a play that dramatises the damaging physical and psychological effects of political ambition on those who seek power for its own sake.

The Tempest is thought to be Shakespeare’s last play and combines so many of the themes he explored over his career, with love, magic, treachery and comedy all featured.

Shows run daily, except Sunday. Tickets cost between £10-£18.

There will be Saturday matinee performances at 1.30pm throughout the summer except August 6, when there will be a gala night, before a production of Macbeth, celebrating 40 years at Tolethorpe.

The evening will cost £25 and include pre-performance entertainment, a free programme and glass of champagne or a soft drink.
