Swallowdale and Bottesford schools serve up table tennis success

Primary school pupils showed off their dexterity with bat and ball to decide the best table tennis teams in the borough last week.

The Leicester-shire and Rutland School Sports competition was held at Brooksby Melton College with boys and girls categories.

Clare Marlow, Melton and Belvoir School Sports Development Manager, said: “They all played some fantastic table tennis and improved as the competition went on.

Swallowdale Primary School dominated the boys competition with their A team pipping the B team to top spot while the school also scooped the Spirit of he Games award.

In the girls’ competition, Bottesford came out top from runners-up Stathern who won the Spirit of the Games award.

Swallowdale A and Bottesford will now represent Melton and Belvoir at a Level 3 table tennis competition at Knighton Park Table Tennis Club on Wednesday, November 22.

Results – Boys: 1 Swallowdale A, 2 Swallowdale B, 3 Bottesford, 4 Stathern, 5 Ab Kettleby.

Girls: 1 Bottesford, 2 Stathern, 3= Swallowdale, 3= Ab Kettleby.
