Stilton Striders out in force at Kibworth 6

A large group of Stilton Striders travelled to Kibworth for the first race in this year's Leicester Road Running League.

There were league debuts for several new Striders who had come through the ranks of the highly successful Melton Running Club offshoot.

Runners had to endure cold, windy and snowy conditions as well as a very tough course, and first back for the club in 59th position was Luke Eggleston in a time of 37min 33secs.

Darren Glover was next home in 38.59 for 74th place, just ahead of Nick Brown (39.06), and Natalie Teece who was third lady across the line in 39.24.

They were followed by Alan Thompson (40.20), Matt Gayton (40.48), Harris Millar who clocked 41 minutes flat in his first six-mile race and Clive Kent (43.52).

Julie Bass, running her first league race in 20 years, finished second in her age category with a time of 45.12 ahead of clubmates Michelle Farlow (45.26), and Vicki Lowe (45.45) who was also second in her age category.

Kirsty Black, returning to the club after three years, finished in 47.47 from Liz Goodbourn (48.09), Nick Pryke (49.30), Sarah Lawrence (50.42), Mel Willatt (53.19), Ray Walker (53.35), and Celia Brown (56.19).

Emma Hope finished her first six-mile race in 56.31 ahead of Vanessa Walker (56.41) and Jenny Kent (61.41).
