The call-up marks the culmination of his main aim for the season, having been determined to make the step up to the county team after he was named as a reserve last year.

Owen’s silver medal was the highlight of a very successful cross country season for John Ferneley.

The Year 7 girls’ team were second in the league, while the junior boys’ team, of which Owen was a part, finished third.
