Stoke Rochford Golf Club’s seniors’ fine start to the season came to a shuddering halt when they were heavily defeated at Oundle.

Two halves were Stoke’s best results as they lost the 52 Match Plate.

Scores: Jim Price/Brian Keightley lost 4 and 3; Brian Ayto/Adrian Stannard lost 4 and 2; John Batty/Greg Ewart lost 4 and 3; Phil Hewes/Stephen Major lost 4 and 3; Mike Dickinson/Alan Jessop halved; Tim Haward/Don Werner lost 3 and 2; Ken Taylor/Mike Thornton halved; Graham Manton/Mick Rance lost 4 and 3.

* Barrie Griffin won round three of the Seniors Trophy competition with 41 points, two clear of Steve Major, with Mick Rance third on countback with 37 points.

With the best three rounds of six to count, Tom Keegan remained the overall leader with 108 points, just a point in front of Alec Whitelaw, while David Hamilton and Phil Hewes both have 105.
