Stoek Rochford golf: White secures Winter Warmers crown

Stoke Rochford GC seniors played the final two rounds of the Winter Warmers series last Wednesday.

The individual stableford winner was John Booth with 39 points, a point ahead of Phil Hewes who took second place on countback from Mick Rance.

In the aggregate stableford, Peter Gill, John Booth and Phil White won with 100 points from Ron Kent, Wilf Stephenson and Trevor Harvey (99pts), while Clive Breedon, Nev Marris and Phil Hewes were third with 97 points on countback.

A total of 76 seniors played in at least one round of the 20-round winter-long event.

Seniors captain Jim Price presented prizes to the top six, including the champion Phil White who accumulated 50 points.

David Hamilton was second overall on 47, from Roger Nicholls (43), Phil Hewes (41), Brian White (40) and Mike Nixon (40).

Roland Slack presented the Slack Goblet and bottle of brandy to Nev Marris whose 15 single points was two more than Dave Waling.
