Great Dalby Primary School defend tennis title

Teams from across Melton and Belvoir battled it out on court to be crowned overall winners at the Year 3/4 Schools Tennis competition.

It was held at Melton Mowbray Tennis Club, off Burton Road, and run by their head coach Di Burdett.

Despite windy conditions everyone had a great time with defending champions Great Dalby coming out on top again.

They overcame Scalford A 3-1 in the final after both teams had topped their groups, and will next represent the area in the Level 3 School Games on Tuesday.

Di said: “There were a lot of new faces and it was great to see everyone having so much fun and playing in a sportsmanlike fashion.

“And a special thank-you goes to the young leaders from John Ferneley College and Clare Marlow for assisting on the day.”

Results – Group A: 1 Great Dalby A, 2 Sherard, 3 Scalford B (Spirit of the Games winners), 4 Swallowdale B.

Group B: 1 Scalford A (Spirit of the Games winners), 2 Great Dalby B, 3 Swallowdale A.
