Thorpe and Cropper piled in with a fine middle order partnership, with scores of 18 and a quickfire 25, respectively as Melton finished with a score of 117-8.

In Soar’s reply, Melton got off to the best possible start when Tew took two wickets with the opening two balls.

Tew’s figures of six wickets for three runs from his allocated four overs had Soar Valley at 30-6 after eight overs.

They fought back with a couple of players scoring freely until the introduction of Cropper’s leg spin.

He took another two wickets for seven runs off his three overs as Melton caught and fielded well to secure a win.
