Melton rugby star Will Hurrell could not have wished for a better venue to make his long-awaited Premiership debut.

The former Melton RFC junior trod the hallowed turf of Twickenham as his new club Bristol opened their season away to Harlequins.

Hurrell (26) was bought by the newly-promoted club after impressing for their rivals Doncaster in the Championship Play-off final in May.

And former England coach Andy Robinson selected the talented centre for his starting XV, playing the full 80 minutes of the narrow 21-19 defeat in front of 47,000 fans.
