A brace from Jonathan Mayes set up a comfortable 4-0 cup victory for Holwell Sports Development Team at home to Bottesford Reserves on Saturday.

Holwell, who play a level higher than Bottesford Reserves in Sports Advocate Division 2 of the North Leicestershire League, made progress in the Bonser Trophy.

The other goals in the first round tie came from John Pears and Alex Lucas.

Holwell Sports Development play Greenhill Reserves or Ashby Ivanhoe Development Team in the quarter-finals.

In the first round of the Automedia Printers Cobbin Trophy, Bottesford FC’s first team enjoyed a 3-1 win at Kegworth Imperial.

Bottesford made their Premier Division status count with two goals from Cameron Corkett and another from Sam Shelton, Jordan Davies replying for Kegworth.

FC Coalville or Sporting Markfield are their next scheduled opponents in the competition in the second round.

In the same tournament, Wymeswold FC won 3-1 away at Loughborough Emmanuel.

There was a two-goal haul for Curtis Mildenhall while Harry Bowley was also on target. George Burgess netted a consolation for Emmanuel.
