Asfordby FC Development signed off on a high note before the enforced suspension of grassroots football with an entertaining win on Saturday.

The village side shaded top-five rivals Mountsorrel Amateurs 3-2 at Hoby Road to climb to third in the North Leicestershire League Premiership.

Jamie Felstead put the hosts ahead form close range after Amateurs made a mess of a clearance.

Mountsorrel equalised from the penalty spot after a handball and then went ahead after the break with a smart finish.

It seemed to be history repeating itself for Asfordby who went into the match in a winless four-match run.

But the hosts would not lie down, and Luke Howitt levelled when his 30-yard free-kick sailed into the far corner as the keeper missed his punch.

And Howitt then doubled his account, flicking a header into the far corner to claim all three points for the hosts.
