It was the striker’s 24th league goal of the season and earned Sports only their eighth win in the East Midlands Counties League to remain 16th.

The win provided some welcome relief for Holwell fans after watching their side lose a two-goal lead in a 3-2 home defeat against Holbrook on Saturday.

Two goals in three minutes from Wells and Carlton Cropper had put the hosts in the driving seat against their Derbyshire opponents.

They appeared to be easing to three points as they led 2-0 with 20 minutes to go.
