Asfordby FC Under 12s' County Cup run was short and sweet following their exit on Sunday, but there were many positives to take away from the game.

Last year, a fixture against a team four divisions higher would have had everyone expecting a double-digit scoreline but this year, things were different.

Hosts Bardon Hill Falcons were ahead within 30 seconds, demonstrating their experience, and by half-time, Asfordby FC were 3-0 down.

The third goal was harsh on the visitors after an apparent foul on the keeper in the build-up.

The half-time team talk was delivered without panic, and a new set of instructions were issued for a change of tactics.

Bardon secured a fourth about 10 minutes in, but Asfordby dug deep and matched their opponents pound for pound.

The display eventually led to a free-kick on the edge of the box which was beautifully executed to pull a goal back.

The last 10 minutes saw the visitors increase the pressure, and as the final whistle blew there was a definite sense of belief that the team is heading in the right direction.
