Young Melton cricketer appointed county skipper like hero Kane
The Melton youngster has been part of the Leicestershire Youth County Programme for the last two years and this season was appointed captain of their under 10s side.
The 10-year-old, who attends Whissendine Primary School, is having a great season and last week led his side to a 32-run win over Northamptonshire.

Mum Kathy said: “To be the only captain of the side is quite rare as normally at this age group they spread this role between players.
“If he isn’t playing, scoring or watching cricket, then he’s asleep!”
Liam, who also captains the Melton Mowbray Under 13s Surepipe side, likes batting best and would like to emulate New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson.
He is also a keen bowler like his dad Karl, who regularly tops the bowling averages for Melton’s senior side, and on Saturdays can be found scoring for the Firsts.
