The Assassins Muay Thai and Boxing Gym are in training for their first international hometown show of the year next month.

The show at the Market Tavern, in Melton, will include five international matches featuring a Spanish team from Barcelona.

Assassins head coach Mark Barlow said: “This is the best team we have ever brought to Melton in the 24 years we’ve been putting on shows here.”

Multiple world champion Iman Barlow will be top of the bill fresh from her victory in Australia against world champion Alisha Pestana.

She fought in Perth at a show organised by former Assassin Daniel Carter, and has been invited to return for a second bout Down Under in December.

The February 20 show will feature 15 bouts in all, all-but-one of them involving an Assassin fighter.

The bill will include a rematch between Nathan Donovan and Bury St Edmunds opponent Andy Hay who believed he had won their previous drawn contest.

Mark added: “I thought Nathan won, but I don’t complain about results so I asked them for a rematch over five round this time and they kindly agreed. This time I hope Nathan shows them he is the better fighter.”

Another Assassin out to set the record straight is Elizabeth Griffiths against Alicia Walker.

Elizabeth won two world championship gold medals last November, but suffered a rare defeat to the Manchester-based Thai boxer earlier that year.

Assassin Aliza Agwan goes up against a familiar face in Bethany Collins (Semtex Gym, Essex) who was beaten in the world championship final by Elizabeth, Aliza’s sparring partner.

Tickets for the show are available at Nicko’s Fish Bar, from any Assassin member or by contacting Iman on Facebook.
