The group is the brainchild of Melton borough councillors Pam Posnett and Simon Lumley.

Mrs Posnett said: “When people think of veterans they tend to think of people from World War Two but you are a veteran if you have only spent one day in the armed forces.

“Today there are a number of young people who leave the armed forces and have difficulty adjusting to life back in civvy street.

“We are a town that has a long history of having armed forces personnel here so we are hoping that we can get a group together and build a group that can help and support each other. We are suggesting we meet on the 1st Saturday of every month.”

Breakfast will cost £5 with tea and coffee for those who attend.
