Crew members of the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) have celebrated the service's eighth anniversary.

The service has helped save a total of 7,702 lives in three counties since its inception in 2008, with each mission funded entirely by generous supporters. The charity receives no government funding, relying on their local communities to raise the £1,700 they need for each mission.

Since January this year, the DLRAA has been called out 104 times in Leicestershire and 90 times in Derbyshire to a range of incidents from road traffic collisions and work place accidents, to sports injuries and medical emergencies.
