Melton runner Dave raises funds for two vital charities by finishing the Leicester Marathon

An experienced runner and member of the of the St Mary's Church congregation completed the 26-mile Leicester Marathon yesterday.

Dave Kitching ran the distance in a time of four hours and 12 minutes and finished 369th out of 650 runners.

He said: “I was doing well until the last three miles, by which time I was in a lot of pain and slowed down a lot.

“It was great to finish and fantastic to have raised £260. I have said to my wife, Alison, is I say I’m going to do it again she is to stop me!

“Thank you so much to everyone who supported me both in sponsorship and prayer - I couldn’t have done it without you.”

Dave competed in the marathon to raise money for LOROS, the Leicestershire Hospice charity, and the Team Parish Bee Project, which raises money to send beehives to villagers in Albania.
