An event offering the elderly information and physical activity as well as the opportunity to meet up with old and new friends will run on Thursday, October 6.
Melton Seniors’ Day, run by Melton Seniors’ Forum, will take place at Melton Council’s Parkside offices off Burton Street from 9.30am to 3pm.
Councillor Pat Cumbers said: “The Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Jennifer, Lady Gretton will open the event at 10am. It will be a day of fun, activities and information.
“There will be basic health checks, taster walks, a singalong and a tea dance.
“Entrance, activities, and tea and coffee will be free and there will be a light lunch, sandwiches and fruit, for a small charge.
“Weather permitting there will be ‘walking football’ behind Parkside - this is a first for us.
“Throughout the day there will also be stalls with demonstrations, useful information and advice about many subjects of interest.”
The event will also include a raffle and a chance to pick up an activities list which includes activities and interests which are ongoing across the borough.
