Leicestershire Police officer jailed for four months after admitting to burglary

A police officer from Queniborough has been jailed for four months after pleaded guilty to burglary.

Pc Neville Thompson, who is currently suspended from duty, appeared at Leicester Crown Court on Monday and pleaded guilty to the offence which took place on March 25.

He was charged with burglary on April 26.

Leicestershire Police’s anti-corruption unit began an investigation after a complaint was made by a member of the public about the conduct of an officer who was on duty, alleging money was taken from a premises in the area of Parker Drive, Leicester.

Speaking after Pc Thompson’s sentencing detective superintendent Simon Hurst, who is from Leicestershire Police’s professional standards department, said: “It is imperative that all officers and staff uphold the highest standard of conduct and integrity at all times.

“We will take the appropriate action against those who commit offences or breach the expected standards of the force.”
