Firefighters alerted after car catches fire in Syston garage

Firefighters from Birstall attended the scene following an alert about the incident at 11.35am in Abbotts Close.

A spokesperson for Leicester Fire and Rescue Service said 50 per cent of the car was damaged by fire, which was believed to have been caused by a mechanical fault.

The spokesperson added: “We received several reports of a car fire within a domestic garage.

“Upon arrival the car fire was confirmed out, Two breathing apparatus and one hose reel was used to damp down.”
