The platforms, built for use by disabled anglers on the bank of the canal in Egerton Park, were both found to be unsafe following a recent inspection both at bank and water level.

The Melton Mowbray Town Estate asked for assistance from MOWS with their boat and crew and the job was completed successfully.

John Rudman, of MOWS, said: “It was another example of the close co-operation between MOWS and the Town Estate when it comes to anything to do with the river.

“We understand the Town Estate is considering the siting of a new and more accessible platform for disabled anglers.”
