Elderly man dies in South Croxton house fire

Investigations are continuing into the cause of a fatal house fire in South Croxton.

An elderly man, named locally as Fred Draycott, died in the blaze which broke out in School Lane at about 5am on Saturday (February 6).

A Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Initial reports suggested one person was unaccounted for. Three engines were mobilised. Crews rescued one male casualty who was pronounced dead at the scene by the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

“The house was severely damaged by fire. An investigation around the cause of the fire continue in conjunction with Leicestershire Police.”
