A total of 26 associates from multiple teams completed various tasks as part of their ‘Just 1 Thing’ campaign, a scheme which sees associates sign up each year to volunteer their skills and services for a day.

This year’s challenge saw them join forces with Birch Wood School. There were multiple tasks that needed completing on the day ranging from painting over 240 metres of internal corridor, installing a new outside tap for their mud kitchen to laying AstroTurf. The team also managed to replace the whole perimeter fence and associates showed their creative sides by making a life-size wooden jeep for the pupils to enjoy when they return after the summer holidays in August.

Natalie Hurst from Mars, who organised the day, said: “A great day was had by all and both Mars and Birch Wood are looking forward to working together in the future.”
