Di McQuillan has recently stepped down from her music teacher post at Redmile Primary School where she has been teaching since 2002.

She taught as a PE teacher at John Ferneley College for 10 years, from 1974, before working as a gymnastics teacher at Brooksby Melton College coaching children aged five to 12 and special needs pupils.

Di was also a swimming instructor at Melton Waterfield Leisure Centre for five years and a key stage two teacher at Somerby Primary School.

She said: “My teaching career has been varied but I can honestly say that I have enjoyed it immensely.

“I consider myself very lucky to have worked in a profession I love. I have met many wonderful and talented children and teachers along the way.”

Di is continuing to give up some of her spare time by coaching at Thorpe Arnold Cricket Club.

“We wish her every happiness and all the best in her retirement.”
