There’s something fishy about doorstep salesmen, warns Trading Standards

‘Don’t buy fish from door-to-door salesmen,’ is the message from Trading Standards.

Salesmen are known to charge excessive amounts for fish that is largely unlabelled and often unfit to eat.

The fish scam is apparently a growing national problem. Trading Standards advises that the best place to buy fish is from a reputable fishmonger.

Doorstep sellers also tend not to offer customers cancellation rights or a receipt to allow them to seek a refund if they are not satisfied with the goods.
