A Melton teenager has been ordered to pay £100 in compensation to a police officer he admitted assaulting.

Ryan Tween (19), of Bramley Close, pleaded guilty to committing the offence in Nottingham Road in the town when he appeared before Loughborough magistrates.

He was given a community order and told to obey a curfew at his home address until December 2, while being monitored electronically.

The offence, on August 1, was committed while Tween was already serving a suspended sentence for possessing a bladed article from March.

Magistrates had sentenced him to six months in prison but suspended it for 12 months - this period was extended to 18 months when he appeared for the police assault case.
