Burglars smash their way into shops at two Melton shopping precincts

Burglars have smashed their way into shops in a Melton shopping precinct and inside a town centre shopping centre.

The owners of three shops in Bowley Court, off Sherrard Street, found out this morning (Monday, September 5) that the front doors of their units had been smashed in. The targeted shops were Bliss Beauty and Tanning, SJ’s Hair World and A Reader’s Dream. In all three cases nothing was taken.

Also this morning police had cordoned off one of the entrances to the Bell Shopping Centre in Nottingham Street, with the centre still closed to customers at the time of going to press. A forensic investigation team was also called out to the scene.

It’s understood a number of units inside the centre have been broken into, with the suspicion all of the break-ins could be linked.

Leicestershire Police were unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
