Last year was the 11th year that the Melton Times and Ragdale Hall health hydro and thermal spa had partnered up to run the Make It Happen scheme which shares out a £10,000 pot to community causes, with the money generously donated by Ragdale Hall.

The Springfield Circle, a social group for elderly people living in Melton, was among last year’s 22 successful causes which received a share of last year’s cash pot - being presented with £300 to pay for garden furniture.

Trips out are also made to local attractions, garden centres and the cinema.

In a letter to the Melton Times group founder Linda Peters said: “Thank you for the £300 from Make It Happen for my group the Springfield Circle.

“We now have our new garden furniture and plants for the courtyard and I’ve sent these photos for you to see that we spent the money well.

“We are having a barbecue on June 11. Once again a big thank you.”
