Businesses in Melton and surrounding area shortlisted for prestigious Leicester and Leicestershire Tourism Awards

Tourism businesses from the Melton area and across Leicestershire will compete in the finals of the annual Leicester and Leicestershire Tourism Awards 2016 in November.

Over 100 applications were received for this year’s awards and 73 finalists have been selected including the some of the best restaurants, cafes, bakeries, tea rooms, pubs, hotels, B&Bs, glamping sites, conference venues, festivals and events, experiences and attractions, and markets in the city and county.

The shortlisted finalists in the ‘Great Place to Eat’ category include Miss B’s Tea Room in Melton, the Red Lion Inn at Stathern, the Hammer and Pincers in Wymeswold and Eye Kettleby Lakes which is also nominated in the ‘Great Places to Stay’ and ‘Proud of Our People’ categories.

The ‘Fabulous Things to Do’ category finalists include the Artisan Cheese Fair in Melton and the ‘Proud of Our People’ award nominees include Melton Theatre.

The awards will be presented at a gala ceremony at Athena in Leicester on November 30.

Janine Williams, deputy chief executive of Leicester Shire Promotions, said: “For 2016, there are three new categories to reflect the broad range and diversity of the Leicester and Leicestershire tourism offer. As a result, we’ve had a phenomenal response to the call for applications and are now working with the judges on the extremely difficult task of selecting winners in each shortlisted category.”
