The annual Melton Mowbray Lions quiz has raised £960.50.

Over 90 people formed teams to see who could answer the most questions correctly.

The winning team were The Ever Hopefulls beating the winner of the last two years by one and a half points.

The Birds of a Feather team were awarded wooden spoons for the lowest score and everyone who attended enjoyed a ploughman’s supper.

Lions President Sabrina Tate said: “Donations of cheese were received from Arla Foods and Cropwell Bishop Creamery, and pork pies from Dickinson & Morris and Mrs King’s Pies. Tesco also donated food.

“The evening was organised by Lion Tony Eaves and his son Neil. Both were very happy with the outcome.”
