11th Melton Mowbray Brownies learn how food travels from farm to fork
The youngsters from 11th Melton Mowbray Brownies had a fun-filled evening, exploringe the warehouse, tasting different types of bread in the bakery and experiencing the temperatures of the freezers.
The girls then had to find the origin of the fruit and vegetables on sale, ending with sampling various cheeses, meats and fresh fruits.

Hide AdAt the end of the evening they were all given a goody bag containing worksheets, cookery leaflets, bread and pastries.
Calum Telford, store manager at Melton said: “The purpose of the Farm to Fork initiative is to teach children all about the food they eat, showing them where it comes from, how it grows, and what it tastes like, so they have a better understanding of how it ends up on their plate.”
