Thousands expected to attend free show

Thousands of families from the Melton area and beyond are expected to flock to Melton Days spring bank holiday festival.

This year’s attraction on Sunday and Monday is set to be bigger than ever due to organisers allowing free entry on both days.

Picking up where the 30-year Melton Show left off, the two-day spectacle is set to pull in the crowds with a whole host of entertainment provided in Play Close.

William Wood, who organises Melton Days with brother. Ashley, said: “Just like how it used to be the show is going to be free for the first time in a long while.

“We’ve tried hard this year to organise an event that the whole of Melton can be proud of and are hoping more people will attend now that admission fees have been scrapped.

“Some of the attractions on offer include motorbike displays, live music, fairground rides, an RAF dog display, a horse skill extravaganza, a craft marquee and Irish dancing.

“Hopefully the weather will stay dry and fine so that everyone can enjoy a good couple of days.”

The activities which will run across both days will start run from 10am to 6pm and over 3,000 visitors are expected to turnout.

Melton town centre manager Shelagh Core said:“In moving the event from Egerton Park to the Play Close and offering free entry, the show and festival hopes to become an integral community event, which will attract visitors of all ages over the Bank Holiday weekend.”
