Melton stage school The Performing Stars Academy is recruiting talented singers and actors to join its new theatre company called Sky Theatre.

Sky Theatre will put on six performances of The Les Miserables School Edition musical at Melton Theatre from September 15-19 and is holding auditions for parts in the shows.

Those who wish to audition must register an application and be aged (12-19).

Auditions will be on Wednesday, July 1 and Tuesday, July 7 at the Sandy Lane Methodist Church, with casting beginning on Wednesday, July 8.

Professionals from the West End Theatre, Oliver Jackson and Zoe Curlett-Crook, as well as Karl Strickland from Leicester Theatre Group, will help select the cast and work with performers throughout rehearsals.

Lex Forrester, co-owner and director of The Performing Stars Academy, said: “We created Sky Theatre for the older performer and to capture the best talent from Melton and the borough.

“We’ve already had over 50 applications from people wanting to be part of the cast and those who are interested in performing are encouraged to send their applications in to us quickly.

“We are thrilled we’ve been able to secure the services of Oliver and Zoe from the West End and Karl who will bring out the very best in the cast.”

Performers who stand out during the auditions will need to be available through August for rehearsals.
