Teas and teasers for Melton borough church appeals

Have your say

Two events are being staged this weekend to help church projects across our borough.

Tomorrow evening (Friday), Richard Angrave hosts a charity quiz in aid of St Bartholomew’s Church (Welby) Project Fund.

The quiz night, for teams of four to six, takes place at the Stute, in Asfordby Hill. Entry is £5 per person to include a light supper.

To reserve your place, call (01664) 561222 or 851386.

Richard will then host another fundraising quiz, in aid of the Belvoir Castle Cricket Trust, on Friday, May 1.

Tickets for that event, at Melton Royal British Legion, will cost £7.50, to include a ploughman’s supper. To book, email michael@belvoircastlecrickettrust.co.uk or call (01664) 668191.

* On Saturday afternoon, Goadby Marwood Village Hall will be serving up cream teas to raise money for the village church.

The teas will be provided by caterers Sans Souci from 3pm.

Tickets are available from Dave Gardner on (01664) 464755.

St Denys’ Church needs at least £10,000 a year to remain open. A launch appeal service will follow at the church on Sunday, April 26 conducted by the Archdeacon of Leicester, the Venerable Tim Stratford.
