Rotary’s Santa sleigh hits Melton’s streets from Monday

Members of the Rotary Club of Melton Mowbray Belvoir, Inner Wheel and Round Table will be taking to the streets from Monday night with their annual Santa’s sleigh collection.

Money raised is used to support the many charitable activities of all the clubs.

Santa will make his first appearance on Monday when the sleigh will be in the Nottingham Road area of Melton, starting from The Welby pub at 6pm.

On Tuesday it will be in the Scalford Road area, starting from Wymondham Way at 6pm. On Wednesday it will be in the Dalby Road area, starting from Queensway Community Centre, at 6pm.

Next Thursday the sleigh is in the Valley Road area, starting from the Cherry Tree pub, at 6pm, and next Friday it’s the turn of Baldocks Lane area, starting from Baldocks Lane at 6pm. Next Saturday (13th) it visits the Thorpe End area, starting from Beechwood Avenue, at 5pm.

Santa will also be at Melton’s Sainsbury’s store on Monday and Tuesday from 10am-4pm, 10am-4pm, at the town’s Morrisons store on Wednesday and Thursday, 10am-4pm at Lidl on Friday (11th), 10am-4pm at the Co-op on Saturday (12th) and 10am-4pm at Tesco on Sunday (13th-17th).

The Vale of Belvoir Lions Club will be lending a hand to Santa as he tours the Vale and local villages on his sleigh during the Lions’ annual Christmas charity collection.

Weather permitting, he plans to visit Langar, Barnstone and Granby on Saturday (5th), Stathern and Harby on Sunday,Redmile, Barkestone and Plungar on Monday, Aslockton and Whatton on Wednesday, Normaton and Orston on Thursday (10th), Bottesford west next Friday (11th), Bottesford central next Saturday (12th), Bingham new estate on Tuesday (15th), Bingham new estate on Wednesday (16th), Bingham bird and tree estates on Thursday (17th) and Bottesford east, Easthorpe and Muston on Friday (18th).
